We’ll hit the road, allowing you to soak in the picturesque landscapes and catch glimpses of Jebel Zarhoun, home to Moulay Idriss Zarhoun town with its sanctuary of Moulay Driss. After a short break in this small town, we continue down to reach Volubilis, once the capital of the Roman province of Mauretania. Now, it is an archaeological site with well-preserved structures, including the Triumphal Arch, Basilica, Capitol, and stunning mosaics. We will be guided by a local guide for about an hour to help us discover this historical site.
Next, we continue our day tour from Fes to the imperial city of Meknes. Upon arrival, we meet our local Meknes city tour guide and begin our visit at Bab Mansour gate, one of the bigest gates in Morocco, Heri es-Souani, and the bustling El Hedim Square. We also visit the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail, the founder of Meknes, and wander through the old Medina, exploring the city’s vibrant markets. After the visit to Meknes, we will meet with our driver and proceed to the Middle Atlas Mountains, driving through the Saiss agricultural plain. After 2 hours, we will reach an amazing Berber village nestled deep in the mountains, where we will be welcomed and spend the night.

Atlas trek around Fes: Berber village of Ifran- Sefrou – Fes 

After breakfast, we begin our day with a short trek guided by a local expert to reach a magnificent panoramic viewpoint overlooking the village and its valley. Afterwards, we descend to return to our transportation, we leave this quiet village and head to discover a hiding treasures of this significant mountain range, located between the High Atlas Mountains to the south and the Rif Mountains to the north. This range extends over approximately 350 kilometers (about 220 miles). The Middle Atlas Mountains are characterized by their diverse landscape, which includes forests, valleys, rivers, lakes, and highlands. We drive through the cedar forests, which are home to Barbary macaques, wild boars, and various bird species. Along the way, we enjoy some breaks near lakes and have our picnic lunch in the middle of amazing nature. We will then proceed to the town of Sefrou, where we will take a short break to visit the town itself and its waterfalls. We set off to admire a nice panoramic view, and after a 40-minute drive from here, our day concludes as we head back to Fes.

Cancellation Conditions

  • If the trip is canceled by you less than one month (29 days or fewer) before the trip date, the amount paid will be retained as credit for a future trip, valid for one year (12 months).
How should you dress when traveling through small villages?

In areas with low tourist numbers (Berber villages in the desert such as in the Atlas), men are advised to avoid very short shorts, tank tops or loose shirts. The same goes for women, avoiding transparent fabrics and tight-fitting outfits. A scarf on your hair is not essential. You can try to dress in local fashion, which seems better suited to the climate.
